Who we're looking for

Schroders' traineeship programme is your chance to gain a year of hands-on, paid work experience. If you've just finished your A-levels or your BTECs then this programme provides you with a chance to explore the world of work. We also accept applications from graduates.

  

Although you may have never heard of Schroders before visiting our website, this traineeship could be for you because key to the purpose of the programme is to teach you about what, why and how we do what we do.

  

On this programme, you'll be part of our Compliance or Corporate Governance Team within the Infrastructure part of our business. 

  

As a trainee, you will receive ongoing training designed to develop throughout the year, where you will have the chance to improve your skills as well as your technical knowledge. We support you to take the Investment Foundation Certificate, which is a professional industry qualification and you'll be paid competitively above the London living wage.

The team(s)

Compliance

As the financial services industry is tightly regulated, a key function of our Compliance team is to ensure that we adhere to these regulations in everything we do. But compliance is about more than just responding to regulation.  Schroders' commitment to conducting business with honesty and integrity means supporting our employees in delivering the highest standards. 

  

The role of this team is to help manage Schroders' relationship with regulators (e.g. the FCA & PRA), advise colleagues on regulatory requirements and monitor our compliance with regulations. It's a global function that helps oversee policy and practice to help manage Schroders regulatory and reputational risks. 

  

What you'll do (Compliance)

Some of the tasks and projects you'll be involved in are:

Analysing and communicating the impact of new regulations on Schroders

Helping to ensure and monitor that our businesses are operating in a compliant way either by looking at themes or by specific processes (such as trade surveillance)

Supporting projects inside and outside of the department including taking minutes at team meetings, helping with ad-hoc presentation materials and creating reports

  

Corporate Governance Team

The Corporate and Asset Management Secretariat teams are responsible for the Schroders plc Group's overall governance structure - companies, joint ventures, investment trusts and funds.  We provide company secretarial services to Schroders plc and the Group's UK subsidiaries, and certain overseas entities. We establish, implement, communicate and manage appropriate standards of governance for the Group.

  

What you'll do (Corporate Governance)

Some of the tasks and projects you'll be involved in are:

Gaining an understanding of the legislative requirements for the Group, including listing rules, disclosure and transparency rules and asset management regulatory requirements and understanding different types of legal entities and how they operate

Coordinating board meetings: organise meetings and scheduling, preparing agendas and uploading board papers to the board portal and coordinating attendees

Preparing for the Schroders plc Annual General Meeting

Preparing and proof-reading first drafts of investment trust annual reports, board papers and audit requests including collation of documents and taking minutes

Assisting with the preparation of micro-entity accounts process and keeping

companies resource centres on board portal up to date

Updating the intranet webpage liaising with teams across the business including Creative, Digital Marketing and event organisers

Undertaking research on governance topics and reporting findings back to the team 

Carry out routine administrative tasks including handling director expenses, arranging couriers to Companies House, printing, scanning, filing, notarisation and gathering data

  

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

You'll have at least 96 UCAS points and be 18 years old by Monday 7 September 2020 to apply for the 2020 intake
