We are looking for an analytical and enthusiastic candidate to join our Hotel Investment division in Paris for a 6-month internship starting in March 2025. This position offers a unique opportunity to join one of the leading private equity players in the European hotel investment market and an experienced team with a significant and robust 20-year track record.

The team

Our Real Estate Hotel team (Schroders Capital Hotel) is an integral part of Schroders Capital, the private market investment division of Schroders, and constitutes an important focus of the Group's strategy for expansion. Schroders Capital is one of Europe's largest real estate managers with deep real estate expertise on the ground across real estate sectors

Schroders Capital Hotel has developed a dual expertise in the hotel management sector, both as an equity investor and as an hotel asset manager. Schroders Capital Hotel gathers a dedicated team of c. 40 professionals based in London, Paris, Amsterdam and Milan, well balanced between investment specialists and hotel industry professionals. The Investment Team is composed of 10 professionals and is focused on the growth of the portfolio.

With c. 50 hotels over 9 European countries, totaling c. 10,000 rooms and more than €3.5 billion of AUM, Schroders Capital Hotel is one of Europe's leading hotel investor and asset manager. With an international hotel team and a specialization in European hotel real estate, Schroders Capital Hotel supports its investment partners by supervising all operational issues specific to this asset class. Thanks to its experience and expertise, Schroders Capital Hotel is both able to invest in properties under management contract, unbranded assets (operated by our in-house asset management team) or leased to third party operators. The Hotel Investment team has demonstrated its flexibility, investing in multiple cycles across all market segments and with several different strategies (opportunistic, value-add and core plus).

 

 

What you’ll do

As an Investment Analyst Intern you will assist the team in the origination and execution of deals, you will:

·         Origination

 

o    Conduct market research, Excel analysis, draft memos and presentations.

o    Create and manage financial models for transactions.

o    Maintain comprehensive research files that include data on both existing and prospective key markets.

o    Be involved in the preparation of board presentations for investment committee, investors, banks.

o    Have direct exposure to brokers, operators, partners…

 

·         Execution

 

o    Be involved in the due diligence process (commercial, financial, tax, social, real estate, ESG, insurance…) during the execution of acquisition / disposal process (transaction documents, handover protocols …)

o   Assist in the preparation of the negotiation with sellers / buyers (price calculation, SPA negotiation, arbitrage…)

The Investment Intern will be expected to be semi-autonomous in deal analysis underwriting and to also be actively involved in transactions.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need

·         Student in a top tier Business School, Engineering School or University;

·         Previous internships in Finance and/or Real Estate and genuine interest in Real Estate / Hotel industry.

·         Highly analytical with excellent Excel skills specific to financial modelling and P&L analysis;

·         Entrepreneurial mindset and highly ambitious with excellent academic credentials;

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills with a very good aptitude to work with Word and PowerPoint;

·         Excellent French and English language skills.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help

·         A first experience in M&A, TS or Private Equity will be highly appreciated

·         Another EU language would be a plus;
