Business Manager Operations


Overview of role

The Business Manager role is to manage the support functions within that area. These typically include most or all of the following functions:  Operations (Middle Office), Risk Management, IT and Facility Management. The Business Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Company’s infrastructure & operations and internal control for these areas. The Business Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of the Company’s strategy. Further he represents the business regionally and globally. To the extent that any of the support or control functions are performed by an affiliate in the Group, the Business Manager will be responsible for co-ordinating service level agreements with such parties.


Job specification

  • Lead the Operations (Middle Office) and ensure oversight on risk management to develop and maintain the operational and risk management framework for several asset classes
  • Serving as a Member of the Schroder Investment Management (Switzerland) AG (“SIMSAG”) Board of Management and Chairman of the SIMSAG Risk Management Committee
  • Ensure effective and efficient processes are in place to manage the infrastructure function and to operate all oversight and business activities within SIMSAG
  • Development of target operating models for existing or new business
  • Responsible for property management, project management, facilities management and space planning, services delivery, and management; internal client and supplier relationship management; environmental management, reporting and budget management
  • Drafting / finalising of service level agreements (operational content)
  • Provide strategic support, assessment and due-diligence on potential strategic partnerships, investment opportunities and acquisitions
  • Support business with Ad-hoc requests in relation to processes, controls and service providers

Required profile

  • University degree in banking, finance, economics or similar higher education
  • A minimum of ten years of prior experience in the financial services industry is required. Professional experience in operations of an asset / fund manager as well as project management
  • Knowledge of regulations in relation to investment guidelines such as CISA, CISO, BVV2, UCITS, AIFMD etc.
  • Experience of a matrix environment, wherein the ability to “think globally but act locally” is critical
  • A proven track record of delivery & execution, on time and on budget
  • Strong process and project management skills required
  • Proficiency in German and English (verbal and written), any additional language is a plus
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
