The base

We are based at 7 Bryant Park in the heart of NYC. And we have everything we need to work flexibly. We operate a hybrid working model, with a requirement that our Client Director be in the office 3 days per week. This is to sustain our culture of innovation, collaboration, knowledge  sharing, and building relationships with the business


The team

This is an opportunity to work interdependently with a small and engaged team that sits within a global Institutional function at a global asset management firm. 


Position Overview

Reporting to the Head of US Pensions for North America, this salesperson will focus on contributing to revenue growth by developing relationships with current and prospective clients, as well as relevant field consultants in the Northeast territory.    


Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work closely with sales leadership, consultant relations, marketing, and various investment teams to execute a strategic plan to attract and retain assets from a wide range of institutional investors (public, corporate, etc).  Through direct relationship-building, this person will develop a strong pipeline of new opportunities across investment strategies, converting those opportunities into new clients.  They will be expected to grow Schroders’ AUM by nurturing relationships with both current and prospective institutional investors prior to the initiation of search activity in order to maximize the chance of success.  To accomplish these goals, they will be expected to:


Sales Responsibilities (80%)

  • Develop and manage a book of prospects with regular communication and in person meetings. Conduct face-to-face prospect meeting and determine team, agenda, and materials necessary for all presentations involving other professionals.
  • Attend conferences, make phone calls, and conduct individual product meetings without investment professionals.
  • Interact regularly with approximately 100 public and corporate pension plans.
  • Understand and effectively communicate complex financial products and strategies in a clear and simple fashion in both verbal and written form.
  • Participate in periodic strategic budgeting and sales projection planning.
  • Assist in developing and launching new products.
  • Travel (25-50% of time) will be required.


Administrative Responsibilities (20%)

  • Maintain an accurate record of all activity in Schroders contact management system, Salesforce, on an absolutely current basis.
  • Coordinate trips with various investors.
  • Maintain all FINRA and other licensing, as determined by the firm’s Compliance Department.


Basic Qualifications

Candidates will be experienced in leading a territory and have a proven track record of executing strategic sales initiatives and be a trusted advisor to their client base.  This role encompasses a broad range of traditional, alternative and private equity strategies. The successful candidate will have an excellent educational and professional background, which may include a graduate degree and/or a CFA designation.  They should be articulate, possess a high level of intellect, strong communication skills (oral and written), and be a consummate team player.  The position calls for an outstanding sales and marketing individual who is very disciplined and well-organized with a high level of energy.  They will be entrepreneurial by nature, seeking out opportunities to bring in new sources of business.  Comfortable with traveling, the individual will be client-centric in their approach to their responsibilities
Bachelor’s degree at minimum required.

  • Minimum 10-12 years working in the institutional market, with the most recent experience being in the Northeast
  • Established and strong relationships in NY, NJ, PA
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex financial products, in both verbal and written form.
  • Extensive current contacts within the Northeast region.
  • Successful track record of raising assets.
  • Excellent sales skills and in-depth product knowledge.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel.


Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or CFA or CAIA, or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • Current Series 7 and 66 licenses are preferred.


Compensation 

Schroders offers a base salary of up to $250,000 for this position.

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
