Financial Accountant

 

 

Who we're looking for

We are looking for a motivated individual to join the Schroders' Luxembourg Financial Control team, to perform the role of Financial Accountant for a number of EMEA asset management subsidiaries.

You will primarily support the branch network of the European management company and private asset entities across Europe. Further you will be required to work closely with the other accountants to facilitate meeting the responsibilities of the team.

This Financial Accountant position will report to the Team Leader Financial Control.

The team 

Based at our regional head office in Luxembourg, the 10 person European Asset Management Financial Control team manages the external reporting requirements for the Asset Management operating subsidiaries.

We are enthusiastic and driven, with a desire to produce high quality results because we take our work seriously. The team assists the Tax department with their external filing obligations and works closely with Revenue Accounting, Cost Accounting, Financial Planning and Group reporting teams to ensure the statutory, management accounting and Group results are correct and fit for use.

What you’ll do

·         Maintain and own the integrity of the financial records of the legal entities

·         Responsible for monthly, quarterly and year-end closing of the accounting records

·       Responsible for the internal reporting to head office and to the local offices

·        In charge of external reporting to the regulators and Government authorities

·        Apply the Group Financial Control framework, perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure procedure documentation is up to date

·       Support Group Tax tax in meeting Tax compliance by country / entity

·         Provide the business with finance data and analysis to support business decision making

·          Act as the liaison point for all third-party matters (auditors, tax consultants, business stakeholders etc.)

·         Proactively seek opportunities for process improvements

 

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need 

·         First work experience in accounting, finance or auditing (local GAAP, IFRS)

·         Strong Excel knowledge is a requirement

·         Experience in the use of a corporate accounting system (e.g. ORACLE, SAP)

·         Fluent in English and French. Any other European languages would be an advantage

·         Focused on quality and timely delivery

·         Demonstrate integrity and accountability

·         Ability to work independently as well as in a team

·         Strong analytical skills with high affinity with numbers

·         Provide timely, accurate and business relevant financial commentary and business decision support

·         Ability to work in a matrix structure

·         Ability to work with a broad range of people from different backgrounds /nationalities

The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help 

·         A good understanding of tax compliance issues (international VAT, corporate tax, transfer pricing) is an advantage

·         Experience in the asset management business is an advantage

·         Willing to travel occasionally
