Group Insurance Manager
Who we’re looking for.
This Group Insurance Manager will provide insurance subject-matter expertise for Schroders, working with the Head of Insurance Risk, helping to manage the insurance programme to meet the needs of each business unit and for the corporate entity. We are looking for someone who is:
· A qualified and experienced insurance professional (ACII or IRM);
· Keen to learn and explore the risk profile of the business, looking for insurance solutions to answer the requirements of the Group and business units; and
· Will want to help manage the financial institution insurance and global general insurance programmes, and potentially providing insurance expertise to support to a major pan-European real estate portfolio and employee benefits insurance programme.

The team.
Working within the Risk and Compliance team, the role involves contact with every aspect of the business in 38 countries. Your colleagues are highly skilled Asset Management, Wealth and Investment Property professionals. There will be regular contact with Legal, Workplace, HR, Governance and Management teams. Interacting with the outsourced service teams at the insurance brokers. You will be one of two Subject Matter Experts in insurance.
What you’ll do
· Reviewing documents, assisting in formulating answers to insurance questions from the business, and determining when to seek advice or opinions from the brokers;
· Creating solutions to a wide variety of risk exposures, legal and regulatory requirements and insurance-related requests from clients and suppliers;
· Support the Head of Insurance Risk to develop the overall insurance strategy;
· Review internal Group policies and procedures for Insurance Risk;
· Request, collate and assess information for the annual insurance renewal;
· Support the annual insurance renewal process, liaising with business units and the insurance brokers;
· Monitor business activities to ensure insurance cover is aligned with key risk exposures;
· Administer claims from first advice through to settlement, including delegated oversight of; claims; claims service from insurers; provision of claims information, and likely settlement outcomes
· Monitor insurance policies outside of arranged Group cover;
· Support periodic and ad hoc reviews of the appointed insurance brokers;
· Support and input on insurance aspects of business acquisitions and disposals;
· Develop and maintain professional relationship with a wide range of Group infrastructure and business units (Legal, HR, Audit, Compliance, Investment, Wealth Management, Bank, Real Estate, Hotels, Renewable Energy) for Insurance Risk subjects;
· Maintain relationship with the insurance market, including potential alternative brokers, insurers and other service providers and peer group of insurance risk managers;
· Provide insurance advice to business units, specifically, due diligence of external suppliers’ insurance arrangements and responding to clients’ due diligence requests in respect of Schroders insurance arrangements;
· Help to prepare reports and papers for presentation to Group Committees
· Help to develop and manage Target Operating Models for:
a) Governance oversight of the global insurance programme;
b) Roles and responsibilities for insurance programme creation and management;
c) Identification of insurable risks and insurance coverage;
d) Establishing insurance programme strategies;
e) Broker and insurer selection processes;
f) The renewal process; and
g) Risk event reporting and management of claims.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need:
· ACII or IRM qualification;
· Excellent communication skills; and
· Good knowledge of at least two insurance sectors from; global general insurance, financial institutions insurance, real estate insurance, employee benefits insurance.
The skills that will be advantageous:
· Good knowledge of the insurance market and insurance brokers;
· An understanding of a captive insurance company would be very useful;
· English is the global language for Schroders but some proficiency with other languages may be an advantage;
· a
· Previous working experience in or for Asset Management, Wealth Management, Banking or Real Estate sectors; and
· Evidence of taking responsibility to complete complex tasks or projects.
