Who we're looking for

We’re seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support and develop our network estate at Schroders. The ideal candidate will bring knowledge, drive, enthusiasm, and a passion for technology to maintain and build our diverse portfolio of technologies to the highest possible levels. The goal is to drive customer satisfaction and enable a technology-focused working environment for our users.

The Global Communications team is responsible for IT Estates, networking, and security infrastructure. This role has a primary focus on campus and data centre networks, wide area networks, internet hosting, market data, and B2B environments, as well as next-generation firewalls, load-balancers, and cloud platforms. We are looking for a candidate who can bring a genuine interest in operations for our networking and security infrastructure and work in our fast-paced environment.

The team

The Singapore-based APAC Technology Infrastructure Team provides primary operations and engineering services for all infrastructure components across the Asia-Pacific region and the rest of the world, working in a Follow-The-Sun global support model. You will work closely with our monitoring and first-line support teams, as well as our engineering teams based in APAC and abroad.

What you’ll do

  • Work as part of a global multi-locational cross-matrix team in a dynamic environment. 
  • Be a key part of our team to drive forward and maintain our technical estate.
  • Working closely with other teams such including Service Desk, Platforms, Information Security and End User Services 
  • Proactively own incidents, problems or issues adhering to SLA’s and OLA’s where relevant.
  • Act as a technical resource for change requests and project works.
  • Act as a technical resource for maintenance, firmware upgrades, and recurring patch cycles.
  • Utilise documented Standard Operating Procedures and other documentation provided. 
  • Work using ServiceNow to update incidents and requests
  • Have awareness of the technology roadmap for existing and new technologies

What you’ll need

  • Certified in CCNP with at least 5 years of level 2/3 experience supporting networking environment in a large organisation
  • Experience with routing & switching (BGP, EIGRP, ISIS, VTP and VPC)
  • Experience with firewalls (Palo Alto, Checkpoint)
  • Experience with NAC (ForeScout)
  • Experience with network appliances like Cisco WLC, McAfee proxy, Citrix Load balancer and Infoblox DDI
  • Experience creating high quality documentation.
  • Experience working with managed service providers and outsourcers.
  • Knowledgeable in multiple system platforms and technology disciplines

What will be good to have.

  •  Knowledge of Azure and AWS cloud
  •  Knowledge of scripting Python and JSON What you’ll be like
  •  Enjoys solving problems and adopting proactive approach through use of technology
  • .Positive attitude and capable of remaining positive when under pressure
  •  Ability to work collaboratively with regional and global counterparts across time zones and to share information with the wider team.
  • Able to challenge the status quo and improve the overall user experience. 
  • Strong organisational and time management skills. 
  • An inquisitive thinker, with attention to detail.
