The team
Group Procurement is a function within Group Finance and has a global role to provide commercial expertise and support to Schroders in support of achieving its business goals.


What you’ll do
This role will provide procurement expertise across the group in order to maximise the long term value from all that Schroders procures. This will involve the identification and implementation of global procurement opportunities in a geographically dispersed environment with respect to sourcing, supplier management, systems, processes and reporting. The role is based in London. The Group Procurement Manager responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
•    Strategic sourcing, owning and developing procurement category strategies. supplier relationship management, contract, performance and risk management across a range of business areas and categories.
•    Business Partnering through developing key relationships with internal customers and external consultants and suppliers 
•    Identifying and delivering procurement opportunities, increasing quality, improving value for money, delivering commercial benefit and mitigating supply chain risk 
•    Providing technical procurement expertise to the stakeholder community whilst monitoring and improving supplier performance and risk 
•    Champion of continuous improvement and procurement best practice 
•    Supporting the development of existing and new suppliers to ensure Schroders has access to lines of supply that improves its competitive position 
•    Production of procurement reporting and analysis of management information to identify potential improvement opportunities  
•    Delivery across a spectrum of business areas to determine the appropriate approach to market, optimum commercial models and supplier relationships for a product/service.
•    To work closely with internal business colleagues to understand their requirements, mapping these to the sourcing strategy in line with overall procurement strategy.
•    To provide procurement services that deliver maximum commercial advantage to Schroders including selection and application of appropriate procurement processes for a particular product/service.
•    Challenging and influencing business stakeholders where appropriate to ensure the best outcome for Schroders.
•    To negotiate appropriate commercial and contractual arrangements with technology suppliers for all products/services.
•    Champion continual improvement and procurement best practice within the global business.
Reporting to management on procurement activities, including savings and benefits achieved.


The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
•    Demonstrable experience of successfully operating within a strategic procurement team
•    Experience of delivering and supporting supplier management and oversight
•    Flexible approach to work with an ability to adapt to change
•    Excellent levels of communication, able to influence and persuade others, whilst building strong working relationships
•    Track record of global/regional delivery across complex environments
•    Demonstrable experience of utilising and managing procurement systems and tools
•    Strong analytics experience in order to understand and interpret information bringing insight
•    Excellent organisation, presentation and problem solving skills
•    Strong negotiation skills
•    Excellent IT and numeracy skills
•    Strategic, commercial and operational experience in relevant procurement spend categories
•    Proven experience in deploying strategic procurement strategies and processes that deliver real business value 
•    The ability to influence at all levels across a large organisation 
•    Excellent internal client engagement, influencing and stakeholder management skills 
•    Comfortable operating in a project delivery environment and managing project and programme 
•    Well developed interpersonal skills, i.e., personal credibility, integrity, diplomacy, tenacity and open-mindedness


The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help
•    CIPS qualified
•    Financial Services experience
