The role of Group Internal Audit is to provide independent and objective challenge to, and assurance over, the Schroders Group's control environment through effective evaluation of risk management, control and governance arrangements implemented by management.

The department has 27 members of staff and is led by the Head of Group Internal Audit who has a primary reporting line to the Chairman of the Board Audit and Risk Committee, and a secondary line to the Group Chief Executive. 

As part of the Group Internal Audit, the APAC Internal Audit team, comprising of a Head of Internal Audit (APAC) and an Audit Manager, has responsibility for the execution of audits across all businesses and locations in Asia Pacific.  Resources are shared across Group Internal Audit, and team members will support internal audits in other areas of the business, with subject matter expertise, and additional resources drawn from the co-source arrangements with external firms, where necessary.

What you'll do

  • Planning and scheduling audits with the business, as directed by the Head of Internal Audit (APAC)
  • Delivery of audits as allocated by the Head of IA,  APAC ensuring that work completed and outputs produced adhere to relevant professional standards, quality assurance expectations and the Group Internal Audit manual.
  • Attending closing meetings, where required.
  • Escalating issues identified by Internal Audit to appropriate levels of management promptly.
  • Writing audit reports and issues to a high standard.
  • Tracking issues and actions arising from internal audit work.
  • Supporting the use of data analytics within the APAC IA and GIA team to deliver more effective, testing.  
  •  Close collaboration with other GIA teams.  
  • Ongoing liaison with relevant stakeholders across Schroders to maintain awareness of key developments.
  • Involvement in special projects and investigations as required. 
  • Supporting the Head of IA,  APAC and Internal Audit Manager in performing their duties, and substituting as necessary
  • Maintaining the relationship with internal audit co-source suppliers, if needed.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you'll need

  •  At least 5 years of experience within the financial services industry, preferably in an established asset management business or bank. Open to candidates from non-industry specific sectors such as Big 4 but with minimum experience of 7 years or more.
  •  At least 2 years of audit experience in an internal audit function. 
  •  Knowledge of the regulatory environment applicable to the asset management industry.
  •  Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Experience working effectively with business staff and management.
  • Knowledge of data analytics techniques and experience with analytics and visualisation tools, such as Tableau or Microsoft Power BI in particular.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of your time as required in the region.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help

  • English and Mandarin (both spoken and written) are essential languages as this role will need to review documents in Chinese language.
