Team Overview 

 

The Singapore Finance department is the regional finance hub for Schroder’s Asia business. It is responsible for:

  1. Financial Control: Preparing annual accounts, reviewing the month end financial close, preparing tax and indirect tax returns, preparing regulatory returns, liaising with external advisors (auditor, tax consultants); managing cashflow and liquidity of the businesses;
  2. Finance Operations: accounts payable, accounts receivable, performing the month end financial close, balance sheet reconciliations; and
  3. Management Reporting: Providing monthly analysis of business performance, responding to ad-hoc analysis requests and preparing the annual budget. 

 

Overview of role 

 

This position will report to the Financial Controller. The key responsibilities of the role are: 

  • Ensuring that financial and management reporting deliverables are completed accurately and promptly;
  • Ensuring that operational processes assigned to them are completed accurately and promptly; and
  • For finance project tasks that have been assigned complete the deliverables on time to expectations. 
  • Financial Control and Financial/ Statutory Reporting/ Regulatory Reporting
    • Performing month end financial closing, including liaising with other locational finance hubs
    • Preparing financial statements and supporting the annual statutory audit
    • Perform monthly account reconciliations and monitor general ledger transactions
    • Maintaining documentation of finance processes within the Financial Controls Framework
    • Preparing monthly regulatory returns and various surveys required by local authorities
    • Prepare cashflow and capital projections of the business and facilitate the interco loan and fixed deposits placements
    • Tax filing and compliance to local tax regulator and group tax reporting
  • Transactional Processing
    • Accounts Payable, Costing, Accounts Receivable and Cash processes; and
    • Ensuring that Group controls around accounts payable and costing are implemented
  • Management Reporting
    • Assist in preparing of monthly / quarterly / ad-hoc reporting for management
    • Work with the Asia Pacific Finance team to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial information in support of overall business objectives
  • Group Reporting
    • Assisting in the monthly, quarterly, interim and year end financial disclosures to Group
    • Assisting in the delivery of the regulatory returns for assigned entities within the regulatory deadlines
  • Assist in ad-hoc projects
    • Involved in various finance projects and initiatives
    • Support business initiatives where finance participation is required

Experience

  • Degree in Accountancy and / or Qualified accountant;
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in financial control and/ or management reporting;
  • Strong Excel skills is a requirement;
  • Experience in use of a corporate accounting system (e.g. Oracle, SAP) 

 

Desirable Skills

  • External auditing experience is highly desirable
  • Preferably with relevant industry experience (asset management or financial institutions)
