Management Accountant

The team
The Group Management Reporting team is responsible for providing Management Information to the Executive Committee and Board, including both financial and non-financial information. To meet these requirements, the team produces a suite of monthly reports and related commentary according to a defined timetable, in addition to conducting ad hoc analysis to support business decisions. The team also manages the group financial consolidation and reporting system, Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), necessitating close collaboration with finance teams worldwide to ensure accurate and timely information flows into the reporting process. Furthermore, the team oversees the Group budget process using Hyperion Planning, which involves detailed planning, monitoring of progress, control, and reporting of relevant information to senior management.
What you'll do
This is an important role providing an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain an understanding of the asset management business through exposure to group reporting. As part of a small team, each member will encounter a wide range of responsibilities, including interactions with the Executive Committee members.
The successful candidate will take responsibility in conjunction with the Head of Group Management reporting for:
• Supervising and mentoring one direct report, fostering their professional development and ensuring high-quality work output.
• Preparing reports for the Executive Committee, Schroders plc Board and Board Audit and Risk Committee, along with developing ad hoc reports using Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) and retrieving data in Excel and other databases such as GDW and FRL.
• Overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the management accounting function, including financial forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, posting all central adjustments (e.g., bonuses) and consolidating the Group results.
• Support the implementation of financial reporting systems and processes that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights that support operational decisions and strategic planning.
• Conduct in-depth financial analysis and contribute to the development of business cases for various initiatives.
• Identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance financial reporting and control.
• Prepare ad-hoc analyses and reports as required by senior management.
• Assisting the Group Financial Reporting team (GFR) with the preparation of year-end and interim accounts, posting consolidation journals in the HFM consolidation system, and preparing various schedules and analyses for reporting to analysts.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a demonstrable track record of professional experience in a management accounting role post PQE qualification
• Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to interpret complex financial information.
• Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills, with experience in Hyperion Financial Management and Hyperion Planning being desirable.
• Capable of analysing process flows and identifying areas for efficiency improvements.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help
• Experience in the financial services industry is preferable.
• Experience in asset management would be advantageous but not essential.
